Rev. McCray’s work in the ministry began in 1986 as a deacon at The First Baptist Church of Melrose Park in Illinois. There he was involved in a variety of Christian ministries including teaching Sunday School, serving as Chairman of the Deacon’s Board, Finance Secretary and Church Treasurer. After moving to Las Vegas, he joined Community Baptist Church. It was under the guidance of Pastor Sam Roberson that James received his calling to become a minister. He was ordained by the Council of National Baptist Ministers in 2003. In 2004, he started St. Matthew Baptist Church. Rev. McCray has an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration from Trition College in River Grove, Illinois and is certified through the Moody Bible Institute. He and his wife DeLois have two daughters, Evonne and Tresha.
